You can get involved in social work volunteering abroad with Projects Abroad PRO.  Our projects mainly focus on family issues and providing support for disadvantaged children.  They are designed for recent graduates, retired seniors or social work volunteers on a career break.

We work with a wide range of local partners, including orphanages, community groups, clinics and care homes.  You can get involved by volunteering as a social worker in Ghana on a child trafficking project.  Another good example of this type of work would be our project for volunteer art therapists in Romania.  You can see all of the different options on the left navigation menu.

Why we are looking for volunteer social workers

Our aim is to ensure that children, who are often the first victims in the case of social problems, have acceptable living conditions.  Our focus on family issues covers domestic violence, family education, adolescent mothers and orphans. 

Some social issues in developing countries are never properly addressed due to stigma or a lack of personnel.  With your help we are looking to make a record of problems and chart progress.  Your guidance and support can really make a difference.

You can get involved in voluntary work abroad by caring for disabled children or those with HIV/Aids.  Alternatively, you could work with local staff and run training workshops to highlight best practice.  Our application process requests your skills, expectations and the benefit you believe your skill can bring to a project.  This allows us to make an accurate project allocation.  It also allows you to get the most out of the experience.
